My Humble Letter to President Pnoy

His Excellency Hon. Benigno Simeon Aquino Jr.
President of the Republic of the Philippines

Dear Mr. President,

                Greetings!

His Excellency, thank you so much for sparing your time to read my letter. I am Mariel M. Garcia, a student of Ilocos Sur National High School. Given this opportunity, I would candidly ask about your plans pertaining our welfare as youths on your remaining five years as president of our country. One of my greatest concern is the proposal of your government to extend the primary and secondary education to two years. Sir, do you think it is practical and possible now  since our country hasn't recovered yet from recent economic depressions? It is my understanding that almost all teachers, parents and students do not agree with your plans because it will further involve great effort and additional financial burdens to them. I believe that the first step in lifting the quality of education in our country, is to further professionalize all teachers, provide complete educational materials such as books, increase relevant learning tools and the immediate setting up of more classrooms and schools for a more conducive learning environment.

Sir I have no objection on your programs but I wish before you implement, please consider restructuring the national education agencies first to clean any anomalies and rid off possible corrupt officers. Please consider also giving  all the lacking materials in every school urgently  needed in further developing the knowledge of the Filipino students and the teachers as well.

We can be very competitive, globally, if we begin the reforms now.

Thank you so much and "Mabuhay."

                                                                                                               Sincerely Yours,
                                                                                                               MARIEL M. GARCIA
